You want your child to have good healthy physical components or Capability to manifest full potentials?

screenshot_20181110_0042101394787786.png

A child has serious skin problem, itchy all over the body, he really suffers a great deal. Furthermore he is hyperactive.

Half a year various medical treatments brough no progress.
Professor Low 罗大伦博士,(Beijing YEIC expert) introduces Chinese Yam (a type of vegetable you can buy in the market) and after the child’s father followed the instruction, the child’s skin problem is solved and not so hyper-active then.

We will discuss the medical theory applied.

We will skip Western Medicine treatment, as Western Medicine treats symptom and not root causes.

YEIC says : “Lungs Functionalities manifest through Skin”, meaning skin-problem is related to Lung function. In 5-element model, Lungs are represented by “Metal”, and Spleen represented by “Earth”.
“5-element theory” further says “Earth gives rise to Metal” or “Earth supports Metal”, then only when Earth or Spleen functions are in good order, we can have good Lung-functions, good skin too. In this case, the skin-problem, related to Lung-Functionality-deficiency is due to weak or imbalanced “Earth or Spleen”.

One of the Liver-functionalities is “Easy flow and Spreading out”, and body, limbs movement requires energy or Qi-blood supply to limbs for movement. If Liver-functions are not in balanced, the movement cannot be well coordinated, resulting in hyper-active movement.

Liver is represented by “Wood” in the 5-element. If the Earth is weak or loosened, then the Wood or tree is not stable and move uncontrollably. Again the key problem, or function out of order is the Earth – Spleen.

Weak Spleen causes Skin-problem (Lungs), and causes hyperactive movement, (Liver).
Chinese Yam is administered.
What is the key property of Chinese Yam? The key property of Chinese Yam is to strengthen Spleen, which is the root cause of the above case.

What are the properties and functionalities of foods (Chinese yam) was carefully studied thousands of years ago, unlike Western Nutrition theory which breaks foods down to components like carbohydrate, fat, vitamin etc.

This is how YEIC treats “skin problem, hyper-activeness” as mere symptoms, but look up for key root-cause using the above discussed Theory.

Do you see autism and Parkinson problems have a lot to do with functionalities of Liver and Spleen?

You want your child to have good healthy physical components or Capability to manifest full potentials?

Some common foods can be effective medicine

Ginger

This is a story of the famous Chinese medicine practitioner Zhang Xichun 张锡纯 during the late Qing Dynasty.

We may not want to be a TCM practitioner, but we wish to understand the theory and principles used as per Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic (YEIC), especially how the body internal organs functions, then we can better manage our health without serious illnesses.

When Zhang Xichun 张锡纯 began to study medicine, he was a teacher and often students came to him for treatments.

One student, 13 years old, suffered from nosebleed four times a day. When the student was diagnosed, Zhang Xichun wanted to know more about whether the student felt internal cold or heat. He asked the students many other related questions and the student could not answer well.

Zhang Xichun reasoned on his own, young boy was full of Yang-energy, and it was summer time. It should be internal heat, and the student was given a cold medicine to balance the heat.
But then nasal bleeding became worse by the day. Zhang Xichun immediately gave the child a warm medicine, the main one is dried ginger plus some other herbs.

Then the nose bleeding stopped. The illness is cured.

Why the warm medicine?

This is because the child’s spleen / stomach were weakened by cold. Then the body lacks Yang-energy. The cold created blockages at the stomach, preventing downward movement of digested foods. The old and freshly digested foods in the stomach produce more fermentation and Qi, which can only flow upwards, with heat and causes nose-bleeding.

Dried old ginger is to warm and unblock the stuckness at the stomach.

What have we learned?

The importance of the mechanics of Qi-movement in the body. And knowing how the body system works (which Western Medicine does not offer such explanation), we can easily treat little illnesses using simple food therapy before the illness gets worse.

Dried ginger, a common food in the kitchen, can also cure diseases. This is the theory “Medicine and Food for Healing 药食同源” which we discuss more at the 2-day YEIC training.

We can also use the learned YEIC principles to observe and help autistic child e.g. in tantrum, determining he has internal heat or cold, etc.

The effective functional operation of the spleen and stomach requires temperature, so the cold diet hurts the spleen and stomach.

Every food/diet has five qi (warm, hot, medium, cool, cold). What is the daily diet of your family and your child?
What daily diet can help strengthen your autistic child or cause family illness?

Can you now make better comparison between ancient Food-Diet System and the current Western Nutrition Theory?

This discussion involves a few key concepts which are elaborated in the 2-day YEIC training class , or online training for learners outside Malaysia.

Endless and confusing Nutrition Theories!

Foods

Lately Alkaline Diet is another popular Nutrition diet system.

We have discussed earlier, every now and then Western Nutrition comes up with new theories, new diet system, each advocated by different experts, attracting their own believers, as all these experts do not see eye-to-eye. Some go into aggressive advertisement.

As far as Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic (YEIC)  Dietary System is concerned, thousands of years till today, it is the same consistent theory. Hence there is never any quarrels, as the dietary system is linked to the whole body functionalities, which are also linked to health, or sickness and illness.

Such holistic theory is used for the last 3000 years, no new theory is needed. Because it is proven working thousands of years.

Alkaline Diet claims that it is the acidic body conditions that cause hundred types of illnesses.

We will now discuss Alkaline Diet make comparison with YEIC.

1。Alkaline Diet identifies human body has two types of Body Constituent : Acidic and Alkaline.

YEIC says, there are nine types of body constituents : some tend to be fat, some thin, some scare of cold, some scare of heat, some feel depressed, some aggressive … etc.

If any of these 9 body constituents get worse, illnesses arise.

There is no Acidic or Alkaline body constituent in YEIC.

Do you think complex human body only has two types of body constituents? What about those who often feel weak, difficulty in breathing, tire easily called Qi-deficiency. Some often feel hot, others cold. Is he acidic or alkaline?

2。In YEIC, the equivalent “acidic” is sourness.

YEIC places great importance to 5 major tastes : Sour, Sweet, Bitter, Salty and Pungent, each affect different organs differently.

In the case of “Sourness” or acidic, it affects the Liver. Too much or too little “sourness” cause imbalance to the liver.

Etc.

Alkaline Diet says “Acidic is the cause of many illness”, then can we say “Excessive sweetness, or Excessive Saltiness, etc are also causes of many illnesses?

Of course, every thing must be in moderation. Then what is the use of highlighting “Sourness” (acidic) is the cause of many illnesses.

3。It seems Alkaline Diet borrows some ideas from YEIC, it says : “After 1 am, if still not in bed sleeping, the body turns acidic.

So far only YEIC has a system that says daily 24 hours, each period different organs are functioning differently at optimal. Not only the above that says after 1 am, not sleeping.

E.g Which hours liver performing detoxing optimally, which hours kidneys manage water system optimally.

The 200 years of Western Medicine do not have such concepts.

Alkaline Diet says : “At 1 am, not sleeping, body turns acidic”.

3000 years ago, ancient sages say : “Between 1 – 3 am, liver performing detoxing at optimal, if not sleeping, the detox cannot be done effectively, and over time, weaken the body. The concept is Functionalities of the body system, not acidic body.

Ask Alkaline Diet expert,if not sleeping till 5 am,what happen to the body? Turns even more acidic? They wouldn’t be able to give any clear answers, except guessing and proposing more new theories.

4。Alkaline Diet also says : “If not sleeping at 1 am etc. try not to eat meat, eat more Carbohydrates”.

(Ha, ha, Keto and Atkins diets say go for low-carbohydrates. All are experts, who is more right?)

YEIC says, between 1.00-3.00 am,Small intestines is at rest, even if you take any foods, after digestion, the nutrients cannot be absorbed by the Small Intestines at these hours. Then what is the use of the advice from Alkaline diet expert on taking carbohydrates?

There are surely vast differences between YEIC and Western Nutrition Theories. I hope readers will do own serious research on both to determine which one makes sense to you most.

When you have opportunity to study YEIC, you will be amazed by the interconnectedness and completeness of the holistic theory, not just diet, (not just to reduce weight),but link to hours, link to organ functionalities, link to your emotions and psychology, and of course link to illness if balanced is not achieved.

This discussion involves a few key concepts which are elaborated in the 2-day YEIC training class , or online training for learners outside Malaysia.

Single Cause to Fire, Disease?

Fire

A short circuit occurs in a house resulted in a big fire. If it is only the short circuit without adjacent combustible items, without supply of oxygen, and with automatic fire-extinguishing system i.e. presence of some “necessary and sufficient conditions” the fire will not occur.

Do you agree with this logic?

In the Cause and Effect model : Effect = Fire, Causes = Short circuit + combustible items + oxygen + failure of fire prevention system.

Today modern medical philosopher, John Mackie proposes the INUS model / theory that says the above message.

This implies that common medical assertion that the disease is caused by virus (like the above short circuit) is insufficient conclusion.

Another scholar, Carter, declares in exasperation that it is “totally pointless, hopeless and downright silly to think one can ever state precisely what it is for one thing to cause another.”

These new theories present tremendous challenges to the medical practitioners, with “virus” as the cause of illness is a belief system deeply embedded, coupled with enormous pressure from the pharmaceutical industries.

Back to 3000 years ago, Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic (YEIC) already knows this simple logic, that it is the body internal environments that attract “virus” (at that time, they used the word “evils” 邪) that harms the body.

This implies that if the main body organs functionalities as a system is intact, the healthy internal body environment will not attract such “evils” to harm the body, resulting in cancers, tumors, etc.

And the treatment is to restore the functionalities of the body organs system, not kill the virus.

Now we can realize the importance of Life Cultivation 养生, constantly strengthening the body organs system, or as per ancient sages saying “Balance the Yin and Yang”.

Hence a short circuit that starts the fire, the fire would not spread if the  “necessary and sufficient conditions” do not exist. Likewise, whatever may be the virus attack, if the internal body system is intact, stable and healthy, the so called disease caused by “virus” would not occur.

“Single cause and effect” mindset is very prevalent in most people, especially in the subject matter of nutrition. The logic says : “eat this and that foods make you healthy or make you sick”. They spend great deal of money chasing after cancer-prevention foods, etc.

But so identified  food is only a single factor, there are many other  “necessary and sufficient conditions” for the cancer to occur.

Without comprehensive knowledge how illnesses / diseases come about, we are living in illusion of health.

Ancient sages already provided us with the knowledge 3000 years ago as per Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic (YEIC).

Shall we not be curious to find out more the ancient wisdom?

This discussion involves a few key concepts which are elaborated in the 2-day YEIC training class , or online training for learners outside Malaysia.

Is Nutrition Theory like blind men and an elephant?

Nutrition 01
After reading the report below, tell me what diets can help good health and long life.

“That there is no magic common healthy diet for all could not have been better validated than by Buettner’s study of the ‘Blue Zones’ that boast the highest rate of centenarians in the world.

These enclaves of healthy high longevity populations include Sardinian shepherds from Cannonau county who have a high proportion of meat in their diets and drink the polyphenol-rich local red wine four times a day.

Adventists in California on the other hand thrive on a strict regimen of vegetarian delights and no alcohol.

Greeks in the idyllic island of Ikaria feast on the Mediterranean diet rich in olive oil, nuts, vegetables and seafood.

And Okinwan centenarians love generous helpings of fat-rich pork with their vegetables. There is no common dietary factor that could account for their longevity”

(The above is an extract from “Principles of Chinese Medicine: A modern interpretation” by Dr Hong Hai)

As we can see there is no common diet system that promotes the above different cultures centenarians.

So how do Western Medicine / Nutrition Theory make meaningful conclusion? Solely based on diets in term of Carbohydrate, Protein, Fat, Vitamin, etc cannot explain adequately, nor other diets system like today popular Alkaline Diet , etc.
However, 3000 years ago, ancient sages already give us clues as per YEIC. That is the critical concept of Body Constituents (体质).

What is Body Constituents?

Individual’s unique Body Constituents come from 1 ) Pre-natal, (先天) (that include hereditary,DNA etc),and 2) Post-natal (后天)” (that include exposure to weathers, seasons, environment (whereby above different cultures have different environments) , place of stay, life habits, diets, types of exercises, moods, emotions, consciousness, personality, psychology, attitudes towards life, …etc.,)。

Hence what food is good for A, is harmful to B. Because A and B Body Constituents are different.
Not knowing one’s Body Constituents, and apply the most modern nutrition theories is like blind man and the elephant, or buy lottery tickets, sometimes win, most times lose.

The 5000 years Chinese food theory is based on what foods suitable for which aspects of body functionalities like digestion, metabolism, blood supply, respiration system, excretion etc. Unlike Western Nutrition Theory solely based on the composition of the food make-up, which cannot specifically points how it helps liver, or kidney or heart functioning !
Body Constituents + Diet Theory” (体质 + 饮食学说), is ½ day discussion at the 2-day YEIC training, involving many new concepts and knowledge.

This discussion involves a few key concepts which are elaborated in the 2-day YEIC training class , or online training for learners outside Malaysia.

Must sportsman be more Healthy?

Sportman

Datuk Lee Chong Wei, a Malaysia National shuttler, is suffering from early nose cancer. Everyone feels distressed and wishes him a speedy recovery.

Someone said: “I never thought that a top-ranking player with such a disciplined and healthy life would also develop cancer.”

Many people think that sportsmen should be healthy and how can they get sick?

Today we talk about sportsmen and health.

Early we have discussed 3000 years ago ancient sages proposes illnesses theory, the various factors like internal and external causes, today we only concentrate on a few variables.

Let’s start with simple logic. (I only bring out the concept of “Qi- blood” as per YEIC)

When athletes do intense exercise, breathing and heartbeat naturally accelerated. A lot of Qi-blood needs to be supplied to the heart and lungs. The body consumes a lot of “blood” and “qi”.

Intense exercise produces internal heat, body temperature increases, burning body fluids, turning into sweat. This also consumes body fluids in the body.

The “Qi, blood, and body fluid” consumed need adequate supplement .

(blood, and body fluid = Yin, Qi=Yang)

How to provide supplement?

It is necessary to have enough sleep and a proper diet.

Western nutrition theory only has the theory of protein, vitamin, etc. There is no clear guidance on how to supplement “qi, blood, and fluid” particularly.

The ancients experimented with a variety of different foods and analyzed their effects, such as what foods can produce blood, fluid, and Qi.

At the same time, it also needs to correspond to the individual’s body constitution. Therefore, different athletes should have different types of diets as supplements.

When in intense exercise, Qi and blood is specially supplied from the other organs to the heart and lungs. This also causes other visceral imbalance.

If other visceral features are inherently dysfunctional (because they are congenitally insufficient / acquired during growing stage), then there are double imbalances to manage.

At the same time, the ancient sages also said that emotions, personality also affects the function of the organs, such as “anger affects liver”, “fear affects kidneys”, and so on. Athletes, like everyone else, also have their own emotions to balance.

Besides, sweating consumes a lot of body fluid, which also causes the metabolism to lose balance and needs conditioning.

If the functions of the internal organs are seriously out of balance or dysfunctional, all sorts of diseases can occur, not necessarily just nose cancer!

Disorders of the internal organs need to be conditioned every day.

Conditioning also needs to understand the theory of “yin and yang, qi, and five elements of doctrine” to understand the changes in yin and yang of your body every day.

Then there is another factor, a habit that everyone takes for granted, after intense exercise, feeling thirsty, drink a lot of cold drinks!

Let’s analyze it again, the heat inside the body, and then a cold drink, what effect on the body?

A person who doesn’t know how to cook, burns the rice cooker very hot and pours cold water on the pot. Over time, will not the rice pot crack? This is called “Thermal Spalling”, crack as a result of expansion and contraction.

Internal heat, sweating, drinking cold drinks, as a habit, over time, will Not the blood vessel weakened or harmed? Can Qi-blood still flow smoothly?

The ancients have always stressed the importance of “cold and hot, that is, yin and yang.” Western medicine has no theory of cold and heat.

From the above discussion, do you realize that sportsmen need to learn more about Life Cultivation as per Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic in order to truly enjoy sports healthily?

This discussion involves a few key concepts which are elaborated in the 2-day YEIC training class , or online training for learners outside Malaysia.
